Youth Activities
The youth group is vital and alive. On
Sunday mornings there is Sunday School where scripture, current issues, and relevant topics are discussed and explored. On Sunday evenings,
from 5 – 7 p.m., the youth gather together for Sunday Night Live. Sunday
Night Live includes opportunities for team building (e.g. Wacky
and Wild Game Night), service projects (e.g. serving dinner to the homeless), rich discussions (e.g. Debate Night), outings (e.g. Beach
Bonfires), and preparing for our annual dynamic Youth Sunday (where the youth lead the entire worship service, including preaching).
The youth group is well-balanced, offering fellowship, study, deep spirituality, service and lots of fun.
Every year the youth participate in a weekly mission trip during the summer. In past years we have built homes in Appalachia and New Orleans (following Hurricane Katrina), learned about environmental stewardship in Monterey Bay, painted a church in Mexicali, worked with children in inner-city Los Angeles, and worked on an Indian Reservation in Yakama, Washington. Currently, the youth mission trips rotate on a 3-year basis (year 1 is local, year 2 is national, and year 3 is international) so that our youth may have a wide variety of experiences.
